  • Death penalty

    Hello again to all.

Well today at school my History class started a friendly debate over the "Death penalty," as you can imagine we had a wide mix of opinions but the main two opposing sides were those saying

"Proportional punishment" VS "Human right factor"

Well here's my opinion, firstly and for mostly I am against it 100% my main reasoning for this being the condemning of innocent people ...it is widely and falsely thought that police research and investigation is thorough I would LOVE to disagree, having found my own research to conclude other wise people have been in the past put to death on a charge they were innocent of.

To this day in England (and I’m sure it other countries) people are sent to prison with a crime they did not commit...so if we were to re-introduce the death penalty in this country...sure crime rates may decrease HOWEVER the chance of sentencing an innocent person to death...I think is justification enough to argue strongly against it.

So what do you think? I would love to here other peoples view's and thoughts on the situation.

  • Move down the bus.

It seems sad that after so many exhilarating months The Mikado is over, it sounds quite odd to me, as I’m sure it does to some of the other cast members. 5 or so months of my life were taken up with the show and I can say confidently they were a most memorable 5 months, when one spends so much time focused on one particular thing it becomes extremely difficult to detach oneself. I will NEVER forget being Pitti-Sing, she is the most remarkable character and along with Katisha the best of the female roles to play, with a feisty sense of humor disguised by a beautiful face, her highlights include making a stand against the evil Katisha.

Now moving on to why I’m really writing today’s blog:-

I have recently moved house to a different area of the Isle of Wight, originating from Cowes I have moved to Newport (Capital of the Island,) there not particularly far apart but far enough for me to have to bus to school and back. Which is fine I don’t mind the bus journey so much, it’s just I do witness some of the most disturbing occurrences…picture the scene – This small single Decker bus is filled to the brim, to the extent I’m leaning on the doors, the bus driver is constantly telling people to move down the bus…they don’t, by the time we reach the next stop it becomes clear that these people are either deaf or far too important to move, two ladies with children attempt to get on …now bearing in mind there is a huge gap in the middle of the bus where no one can get to because a few ignorant students can’t be bothered to move this shouldn’t be too much of a problem…
Bus driver: Could you move down the bus please?
    Various students: Blank expressions
Bus driver: You need to move down the bus
    Various students: Blank expressions

By this time I’m pretty annoyed sighing allot and gritting my teeth, at their complete arrogance to not want to move into a space that only they can move too..

Me: You need to move down the bus there’s space, WE CANT FIT ANYMORE PEOPLE ON…MOVE!
And at last I think they understood what I was saying, so there we had it people were able to move around a little more, it did result it me getting stupid verbal abuse for the rest of the journey which to be honest was more entertaining than degrading…you can tell they don’t listen at school. Does anyone else ever encounter people like this, if so what is your reaction, or are you passive? I just don’t understand why do people not move? Their being asked to several times for bleeding sake!

Carrying on from this, one of the girls who had…in effect refused to move because she is too
important was talking quite loudly about the time her mother punched her microwave door, she then went on to explain quite enthusiastically that her mother had lost a form to go visit her father in prison and so proceeded to punch the microwave door in and I’m sorry but I can’t help thinking there’s a trend in the family?…Sorry that last statement might seem a bit harsh, but when you are subjected to the mindless and quite pathetic drivel that one has to put up with on the bus ride home from school …you often need to just vent. More shockingly this is a typical conversation you would find on my bus ride home. And I just think …why?

    Anyone answer?

  • Hi everyone! I'm just getting started on Xanga... Drop me a comment if you've got some ideas on what to do first - or just to say, "Hi!"
  • A hearty hello - just a little taster.

I rant alot! You may have to keep up!

A big bright hearty Hello! to all, I’d like to thank my dear friend Katherine Edwards for educating me onto this site,  I don't have much time to write a great deal as I am about to hurry off to a Calamity Jayne rehearsal, something you will pick up quite soon is that I do allot of rehearsing for one show or another. On that note I have recently been playing the part of Pitti-Sing in Gilbert and Sullivan's great comedy opera The Mikado, a life changing part which I am very honored to have played, the 5 or so months of hard work payed off with 5 very polished performances, four of them I played the role and during the Saturday matinee my very talented and very beautiful understudy Katherine took the role. I am a huge fan of the theatre, performing or watching and I spend most of my time at my local theatre Trinity Theatre, we are currently trying to give our theatre a little bit of love in order to restore it to its former glory - after many years of what one must call abuse and abandonment. I currently juggle my time between theatre and studying, I am a sixth form student studying Drama and Theatre studies, English Literature and History, three most enjoyable subjects however the curriculums view of history and mine differ quite remarkably. Theatre works well alongside my fairly recent interest in Photography, I’m not a particularly arty-forty person but I like to say I can hold a camera and click the button skillfully, since I’m almost a ...dare I say it? N00b at the job I would like feedback http://moonlament.deviantart.com/  here is my provisional gallery, I’m currently re-building a website - up shortly. Photography is overlooked by allot of other artists it's true that sometimes you get lucky and produce a quite remarkable picture however more often than not there’s a whole other meaning to the term "photography" it's not just a simple case of clicking a little button it's :- being able to produce a photo with good composition, lighting, shadows, apeture changes, iso examining ect .... As a hobby it's quite a time consuming practice which should be looked upon as a disciplined art.
Amongst other things I love nature which seems fitting as I live on the Isle of Wight, a most beautiful and picturesque island often over looked by mainlanders, allot of my photos capture nature as a focus, I find that if you wait for the picture to appear again you may never find it so always and I emphasize always take the photo there and then (Unless being chased by a tornado ...then you may have reason leave it.) History is also of great importance to me, I love ancient history, The Tudor era, The History of White Star line and various other bit’s and bobs, I don’t know why and I have never known but history fascinates me…however as I pointed out before…my opinion of history differs from that of our curriculum. Well that’s it my time is up…whip crack away….

I want to thank Katherine again for bringing me into the world of Xanga and for generally being a good person and very supportive!

Rant over! Did you keep up?
